At some point in our lives, we thought we have tried it all and nothing more is needed, we do not need to visit new places and we do not need to try new food. Then the world became more open and connected to each other and every country had more than one access to others' culture, thank heavens for burgers!
Here are some of those ones that we did not know how good they are until we tried them.
1- From Egypt: Taro.
Taro is not only grown in Egypt, but it is well known mostly by the way Egyptians cook it. This debate is endless between people thinking it is delicious, people want to stand out and just love something because the majority hates, and people who straight up cannot even stand its smell. But truth be told, I was one of Taro's fan as a child. I remember how warm it had to be in order for it to taste as good as intended. I remember it shaping like the potatoes I am forever in love with but never tasted like it. And I remember its green Mulukhiyah looking like the soup that is weirdly thick but as long as my mom eats it and lives, then we are good to go. However, as a grown-up, I do not like it anymore; I am one of the current majority. But this does not have to mean that I will deny how good it actually is, because not liking something does not mean that it is a bad thing.
2- From Mexico: Burrito.
Burrito is a Mexican originated dish that is out of this world, now that I have tasted it at last. I have always been disturbed by the fact that a tortilla is stuffed with rice or beans along with other components, which can be overwhelming for a middle eastern like me with a plain digestive system but a very curious appetite like mine. So, I had the chance to try it, I realized that -gladly- I get to choose its components and I took that advantage to the fullest. I have had tasted what a mixture of autumn's sunshine with a One Republic concert would feel like, it was delicious beyond words, I was left speechless. It does not have to fall into the stereotyping of how all-Mexican food is unbearably flaming hot. As it can contain whatever you want out of chicken, beef, potato, tomato, beans, cheese, lettuce, onion, rice, or all together if you are brave enough- with a sauce of your picking, and your senses will be thanking you for the ultimate sensation you will grant them.
3- From within Acceptance.
Acceptance is not an easy thing to do, but once you realize how relieving it is, you will become healthily addicted to it. Accepting your past will bring peace upon your present, leave the future for your future self, for now.
Accepting others’ individuality will not make you any less of what you are; it will make you more of what you are because it will show you how much your individuality is solid even after dealing with all kinds of different entities. Accepting yourself for its cons before its pros are important because denial, arrogance or dilutions will not help you be any better and none of them will erase your insecurities either. Accepting the fact that some life difficulties were meant to make you stronger enough to deal with them knowing that not every difficult new challenge is unfair or must change, sometimes we have to change and evolve.
