Egypt`s new wave, 5 hip hop artists that dominated the Egyptian hip-hop scene in 2019

The hip hop scene in Egypt had it`s remarkable breakthrough in 2019 for sure! A new generation offering a unique mixture between “Trap”, “Rap”, and “Mahraganat” music.

Marwan Pablo

Previously known as “Dama”, Marwan Pablo is currently one of the leading Trap artists in Egypt and probably the Arab Region.

His latest Music Video “free” had topped music charts on YouTube, and received a whole lot of praising from fans. The video features Pablo with the producer “Molotof”, and was shot in Alexandria. The video was considered by many to be a turning point in the Rap Scene, something they think is promising for upcoming hip-hop video production.

Pablo also had previous hits during 2019, songs like “El Gemeza”, and “Sindbad” had topped YouTube charts.

Wegz

His name surely have shined in 2019, the 21 years old Hip Hop artist Wegz is known for his unique and renewing vision when it comes to his music. He certainly succeeded in attracting fans from various social and cultural backgrounds, with hits like “Keda Keda”, “ATM”, “Hawary”, and recently the release of his new EP “Gezeret Elbatal”.

Wegz had his first hit “T.N.T” IN 2018, then his collaboration with Sadat (Mahraganat Singer) in “Kharban”. Since then, he had been collaborating with many artists, including “DJ Totti” who worked with Wegz in many of his tracks.

Marwan Moussa

Grew in Cairo, originally from Ismailia city, Moussa`s Tracks are known for their extraordinary catchy hooks, and this unique mixture of voices that transfers listeners right to an intended vibe or mood. Such tracks include “El Bosla Daaet”, “Shata2er”, “Nhayet el 3alam”.

Moussa`s style may seem provoking, and may entice different emotions. Marwan will surely release many more hits, as he is currently acknowledged for being one of the top names in the rap scene in 2019.

Hesham Raptor

A distinctive mixture where both old school rap and new school rap meets, Raptor surely have received his share of respect from many in the rap scene for his style and technique.

Raptor got into rap back in 2012, he had many tracks released since then, and he featured artists like Wegz and Marwan Moussa, and had hits like “Bahazar Maak”. He recently released his new music video ‘Sam3ny Rap”.

MOUSV

Another uprising voice also form Ismailia, Moussa aka “MOUSV” is surely one of the hip-hop artists that left their mark in the rap scene in 2019.

He released his first Album “OV” in 2018, and it had find its way all across Egypt. With tracks like “GOWA 3AA'LI III” and “SAA'E3”, The artist had his significant remark since then.

His tracks have this alternative dark mood, which gives them a mood of their own, he tells stories we can all relate to, it gets personal, and it leaves an echo inside.

MOUSV had many successful tracks in 2019 including “FE El HAWA”, and “Mush Hatslak”.
