Madih was born in 2001; he is a high school student who is addicted to music production and making all kinds of hip-hop music.

The artist came across hip-hop back in 2011, listening to Y-crew especially that one of his friends, Omar Boflot was part of them, and that became a huge influence on his attraction to the genre. This made him, later, consider making his own music.

His new Recording Label, The Sound of Eastern Cairo, briefly Sout Sharq has begun by the end of 2018. “The whole story began at Madih Records, which was a private label that only held the rights of my own music and production back then,” Madih Says. “However, during 2019, the idea has developed to involve teen artists: Those who tend to be different from others; in order to deliver a very special quality of music from these artists under the name of sout sharq to everyone interested in the genre,” He added.

In 2020, the idea was brought up, and Madih Records got rebranded to be the Sound of Eastern Cairo (in reference to where it all started from.)

“Our situation currently combines 8 artists, including me, who tend to work their mind off, and bring the best work with the best quality for their audience, under the name of Sout Sharq Al-Qahira.” He mentioned.

According to Madih, Sout Sharq has been originally found to shed light on great minds in the rap scene, which he possibly believes that all of them deserve to be on top of the spotlights during the next years. “All of them really have great minds that are obviously productive and mostly aiming for being the top. I truly see this spirit in every one of them.”

When we asked Madih how he sees the future of hip-hop in Egypt, he replied, “this is a mysterious matter to be answered. 10 years ago, or maybe before that, when people started making hip-hop music, no one ever thought that it would be that different, at least not enough to establish a high ranking and battle other famous and mainstream genres in Egypt. However, deep down in my own expectations, I think that the rap scene, the way hip hop developed, is actually the next thing in Egypt. You can already see this in advertisements all over the TV and the streets.”
