"Wings, winds, and wishes" a Poem by Nada Bahaa

Writer's picture: Nada BahaaNada Bahaa

"You're just a little bird," they say As little as I might seem, I have great dreams.

I hope to fly and stagger around the universe,

sing as loud as it takes the heavens to hear my voice

To rise up high and hear the angels' prayers,

see my own colors in the reflection of the widest rivers

to quarrel with the mightiest owl;

triumph some battles, taste the defeat as well.

I hope to see lovers sharing bed and bread

across the other half of the world

and aspire to have the love I deserve

to feel warm in the coldest days

courageous to face the wildest winds

Why put me in a closed cage and deprive me of my dreams

Don't call it protection

Don't call it obsession, For as little as I might seem

I have the biggest dreams.
